Stuttering Cures

Stuttering cures do not exist for everyone, in fact a cure for stuttering does not exist.  What does exist are some great ways to overcome stuttering.  The ways in which each person can overcome stuttering differs since stuttering is something that is unique to each person that is dealing with it.  What works for one person may not work for another, so it is important that you try many different things before you assume that you cannot improve your stutter.

Everyone can learn how to minimize their stuttering. In some cases the person who stutters needs a good support team such as friends and family members.  If you are the friend or family member of someone who stutters you should be sure that you speak slowly when you are in their presence.  When you speak slowly and clearly you help them realize that they can also speak slowly which will usually help them stutter less.

The family and friends should also attempt to ask just one question at a time.  If this is not adhered to, the person who stutters should make an attempt to just think through one question at a time.  This will allow the individual to process just one thought, and the words that come with a reply, which will also always result in less stuttering overall.

Many people who stutter develop techniques through therapy such as breathing right or counting backward from ten before speaking.  These techniques are meant help them get in a relaxed state of mind that will help do to away with the anxiety about stuttering.  When you aren’t nervous about speaking, you’ll probably stutter a lot less.

See a speech therapist to help stop stuttering.  A speech therapist can help you learn different tricks and help you begin to speak in a way that will eliminate the stuttering most of the time.  The more you practice these tricks the better you will be.  It will take some practice, but if you really work at it and you follow the advice of a trained professional you should see some improvement.

Try to visualize yourself not stuttering.  Sometimes, when you can imagine yourself doing something you empower yourself to do just that!  If you picture yourself stuttering you are setting yourself up to fail.  Take a breath and picture something positive.  When you approach the situation with a positive frame of mind you are sure to have a more positive result, which will usually just mean less stuttering for the person who struggles with stuttering.
